Development Associate
Green Hedges School seeks applications for a part-time Development Associate with potential for full time employment. Green Hedges is a private independent school serving preschool through Grade 8 with approximately 165 students in Vienna, VA, fourteen miles west of Washington, DC.
Green Hedges School includes three divisions:
- Preschool: Ages 3 through 5, Montessori philosophy
- Lower School: Grades 1 through 5, traditional
- Middle School: Grades 6 through 8, traditional
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and applicable experience.
- Self-starter.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task to meet deadlines.
- Strong communications (verbal and written) and analytical skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Friendly with a commitment to customer service.
- Successful candidates must successfully complete a required background check.
Strongly Preferred
- Strong experience in accounting.
- Experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge.
- Experience in independent schools.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to the School’s Mission and Core Values.
- Process donations, prepare acknowledgement letters and pledge reminders as well as other correspondence for multiple campaigns.
- Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
- Continually update and correct database records.
- Assist with prospect identification through the collection and analysis of constituent data.
- Maintain donor files.
- Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare materials and other duties as assigned for fund-raising events.
- Prepare media materials for distribution (i.e. copying, filing, mailing, e-mailing).
- Assemble media and donor kits for events and meetings.
- Collaborate with School staff and volunteers.
- Reconcile contributions totals with the Business Office.
- Work diligently and promptly to maintain positive and constructive communication.
- Attend school events, as assigned
- Perform professional duties efficiently, manage resources effectively and meet deadlines and meeting schedules set by the School.
- Observe the policies and procedures as set forth in the Personnel Manual.
- Serve as an advocate for the School in the wider community.
- Perform professional duties as assigned by the Head of School or the Director of Development.
