“It’s all about the front doors of the school,” says Leslie Dixon, pointing out the double set of handles, one below the other, on the doors to Kilmer Hall. “These handles represent the respect we have for children and adults alike.”
Ms. Dixon, in her ninth year as Director of Admission, is herself a doorway to new families visiting the school, and her first time walking through those doors was as a prospective parent of daughter Gingy, who attended Green Hedges from age three until her graduation in 2008. Between then and now, Ms. Dixon has been, among other things, a room mother, Chair of the Fun Fair, a member of the Academic Affairs Committee, and, thanks to her experience in municipal finance, Treasurer of the Board of Trustees.
“Visitors comment that I seem to know everyone,” she says, “and I tell them, I do, we all do. It’s that kind of a place.”
