Pam Williamson Lucas

Pam Williamson Lucas, Grade Two
What is so special about Grade 2 students? To Pam Lucas, children at this age seem to be at a delightful stage, having gained greater independence, honed their keen inquisitiveness, and maintained the high spirits that make every school day an adventure. An adventurer herself, Ms. Lucas received a degree in Geography from George Mason University and went on to do field research in Costa Rica, where she studied life among the Ticos and Nicaraguan settlers. After a career in the corporate world, she decided to follow her dream by getting training and experience as a teacher. She taught for seven years at the Nysmith School and is in her fourth year at Green Hedges. “This is a lovely nurturing environment,” she says. “It is the kind of teaching I value most, where teachers do a good job of setting a caring compass for students.”
