Auxiliary Programs Coordinator
Auxiliary Programs Coordinator Patty Mills relishes the challenge of ensuring that the Extended Day Programs and after school activities run smoothly at Green Hedges. “Every day is different, and we accommodate the needs of children of different ages, from the younger ones who take naps in the afternoon, to older ones who are completing homework assignments, and all those who participate in clubs such as soccer, fencing, arts, basketball, and golf,” she says. Ms. Mills is also in charge of Winter and Spring Break camps, which each year center on a different theme.
Ms. Mills has an Associate of Science Degree from Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida, where she studied Early Education and other subjects. Before coming to Green Hedges, she most recently taught at the Messiah Preschool in Chesapeake, Virginia. When she decided to relocate to Northern Virginia, she heard about Green Hedges and thought it would be a good fit for her love of children and teaching experience. Once on campus, Ms. Mills was impressed by the energy and excitement she felt from the community, qualities to which she now contributes.
When she is not busy at Green Hedges, Ms. Mills enjoys taking yoga classes, working out, and hiking along area trails.
