As we eagerly approach the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris on July 26th, I reflect on the essence of an Olympian. These are individuals who have overcome moments of discomfort and discouragement to achieve the distinction they now embody. Olympians are often role models for children, demonstrating qualities like resilience, determination, and the confidence to shine on the global stage.
Every Olympiad, the span of four years between games, we witness athletes who excel in their sport; evolving and growing much like students navigating new challenges each academic year. While Olympians stand out in their fields, they also exemplify an ideology of success that resonates with the core values of institutions like Green Hedges School. Our values of achievement, character, exploration of opportunities, and self-confidence mirror those that define Olympians as the truly inspirational figures they are.
At Green Hedges School, our students represent our core values through their pursuit of excellence, whether in academics or personal growth. Our unique inquiry-based curriculum empowers them to explore their passions year-round, fostering a deep commitment to learning and translating effort into enduring success.
We prioritize the development of good character; fostering traits like self-reflection, honesty, kindness, and respect daily. Students are encouraged to embrace new challenges and opportunities, contribute positively to our school, and share with the wider community during Openings and Closings throughout the school year.
Our comprehensive program offers abundant opportunities in fine arts, academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities, ensuring every student can thrive and find their path to self-discovery. Throughout their journey from Montessori through Grade 8, we strive to truly understand and support each student, creating a nurturing environment where they can grow into their best selves. As one of our “lifers” (Montessori-Grade 8 student) said best, “ Growing up at Green Hedges has helped me shape my dreams for the future. Green Hedges has guided me and helped me know what I want to achieve in life.”
As we celebrate the upcoming 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games, let us draw inspiration from the dedication and spirit of Olympians, embodying values that empower athletes and students alike to reach their fullest potential.
