Seeing possibilities as opportunities and saying “yes” to many is an inborn trait of Lisa Gibb, Director of Philanthropy. “My middle name is “Jolley and that is my outlook on life, too,” she says, explaining that, when difficulties arise, she tends to redirect them into hopefulness-in-action. At Green Hedges, Mrs. Gibb, a past parent, has said “yes” to serving on the Board of Trustees and to being Board Chair, among other volunteer roles. She remembers her family coming to Green Hedges “because the Montessori program, and the teachers here, have so much to offer. Our son was seen, challenged, and supported,” she says, concluding, “We stayed because the school continued to be a good partner for with our family”
On campus, Mrs. Gibb came to appreciate the strong culture of friendship and mutual support among adults, what she calls the whole family partnership. “We’re so much more than a place where parents drop their children off; there’s love here, and commitment to each individual child,” she says, adding that some of her most significant conversations have taken place over the din of birthday parties.
Most recently, Mrs. Gibb was Campaign Coordinator for the Potomac School, managing its multi-million-dollar campaign. After earning a B.S., Secondary Education in English from the University of Idaho, she earned an M.A. in Leadership from the University of San Diego and expanded her definition of teaching to include the many roles she has taken on since, each one in service to communal good. “I love learning and sharing my knowledge with others,” she says.
Mrs. Gibb is a member of the Vienna Rotary and is on the development committee for Belong – Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
